One of the reasons half of me is on the PC side of this debate is because most of the software I’ll be using over the next few years at college is available exclusively for Windows. I’m going to be studying engineering for the next four years, and one of the things the engineering college’s webpage said was they recommend not getting a Mac because the PC was more suitable for the applications I’ll be using (which I assume will have to deal a lot with programming languages, 3D CAD type stuff, and the like. While the new Mac incorporates Windows by using BootCamp, I feel it’d be more of a hassle to have to restart and switch between OS’s when I need to run a specific program, leaving the rest of my files and such inaccessible. A PC would definitely help in situations like these.
One of the great features of the Mac that has recently come to my attention is it’s immunity to almost all viruses and attacks one faces when using Windows computers. I spent the entire day yesterday trying to rid my computer of malicious software of all sorts which were causing unwanted pop-ups, toolbars, and endlessly-annoying changes in homepage addresses. After an overnight complete system scan using a fourth different piece of software, I can fully say that I’m completely sick of the vulnerability of Windows. If I never have to deal with another piece of antivirus or antispyware software again, I’d be happy. This is certainly one area where the Mac has the PC beat.
I’ve set up a Paypal account to receive the vote donations. You can access the link from the page titled Vote! and the box on the sidebar. Read the Vote! page for information on how to vote and how much to donate. In the comments section of the Paypal service, make sure to specify which system you’re voting for (Mac or PC). Thanks!
I’ve updated the sidebar with a link to a page that contains the two candidates that will be running for your votes, just click The Candidates to check out the specs on the two models I’ve selected. They’re both great computers that would fulfill my need, but I don’t know which one to choose!
Welcome to my blog! If you’re new to the site, click on the About this Blog and About Me links in the sidebar over to the right. Learn about me and my quest, and how I need YOUR help!
